This photo was taken at the Paris Zoo. This is the male hippo of the pair of pigmy hippos that they had, but for some reason were keeping seperated. As we entered the Hippo House we heard an insane bellowing... it was this male pygmy hippo who was trying desperately to get to the female hippo. He kept bellowing and attacking a metal gate with his teeth. We thought for sure he would hurt himself. Although we felt terrible for the hippo, the encounter was one of the highlights of the trip.
