Margaret talks to host Dean Olsher and producer Amanda Aronczyk of the Public Radio International show, The Next Big Thing in front of Musa's Slaughterhouse in the Bronx, NY. We went to the Bronx with Dean and Amanda to investigate New York's live markets. | more photos from The Bronx |
In June, on our way from Kansas to Maine, we stopped off in New York City. It was the first time we'd been back in New York since the very beginning of our project. We looked at the city with a very changed perspective, and also with a much goatier point of view.
When we lived in New York, I don't think we would have imagined that there were goats in our back yard, but we learned that there are several live markets in the Bronx that sell, among other animals, goats. We decided to investigate, and Dean Olsher, host of Public Radio International's The Next Big Thing, and radio producer Amanda Aronczyk, decided to come along.
We ended up at Musa's Carniceria and Slaughterhouse and afterwards had a delicious lunch of Jamaican curried goat. We don't want to give too much else away.... To find out what happened, you should tune into The Next Big Thing this weekend (July 17 & 18). To find out if it's available on a public radio station near you, you can view their showtimes here. If you miss us live, you'll be able to hear us over the web on The Next Big Thing's website:
